Tigray People's Liberation Front
The Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) is a political party in Ethiopia, primarily representing the interests of the Tigrayan ethnic group. Founded in 1975, it played a significant role in the overthrow of the Derg regime in 1991 and was part of the ruling coalition, the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF), until 2018.
In November 2020, tensions escalated between the TPLF and the Ethiopian government, leading to a military conflict in the Tigray region. This conflict has resulted in a humanitarian crisis, drawing international attention and concern regarding the treatment of civilians and the stability of the broader region.
