Tic Disorders
Tic disorders are neurological conditions characterized by repetitive, involuntary movements or sounds called tics. These tics can be motor, such as blinking or head jerking, or vocal, like throat clearing or grunting. Tic disorders often begin in childhood and can vary in severity and frequency.
The most common tic disorder is Tourette syndrome, which involves multiple motor tics and at least one vocal tic. Other tic disorders include chronic motor tic disorder and persistent vocal tic disorder. While the exact cause is not fully understood, genetic and environmental factors may play a role in their development.
