Transient Tic Disorder
Transient Tic Disorder is a neurological condition characterized by the sudden onset of motor or vocal tics that last for a short period, typically less than a year. These tics can include repetitive movements, such as blinking or head jerking, or sounds like throat clearing or grunting. The exact cause is not well understood, but it often occurs in children and may be linked to stress or changes in environment.
Unlike chronic tic disorders, transient tics usually resolve on their own without treatment. They are more common in boys and often emerge between the ages of 5 and 10. While the tics can be distressing, they generally do not interfere significantly with daily life or development. Early intervention and support can help manage symptoms if needed.
