Thuja
Thuja is a genus of coniferous trees and shrubs in the cypress family, known for their evergreen foliage. Commonly referred to as arborvitae, these plants are popular in landscaping for their dense, pyramidal shape and ability to provide privacy as hedges. They thrive in a variety of soil types and can tolerate different light conditions, making them versatile choices for gardens.
There are several species of Thuja, including Thuja occidentalis, commonly known as eastern arborvitae, and Thuja plicata, or western red cedar. These trees can grow to significant heights, with some species reaching over 100 feet. Their wood is valued for its durability and resistance to decay, often used in construction and outdoor furniture.
