Throttle Position Sensor
The Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is an essential component in a vehicle's engine management system. It monitors the position of the throttle plate, which controls the amount of air entering the engine. By sending this information to the engine control unit (ECU), the TPS helps optimize fuel injection and ignition timing for efficient engine performance.
When the driver presses the accelerator pedal, the TPS detects the change in throttle position and relays this data to the ECU. This allows the engine to respond appropriately, improving acceleration and overall driving experience. A malfunctioning TPS can lead to poor engine performance and increased fuel consumption.
