Three Affiliated Tribes
The Three Affiliated Tribes consist of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara tribes, located primarily in North Dakota. They share a common history and culture, having formed a political alliance to strengthen their communities and protect their interests. The tribes are known for their rich traditions, including storytelling, art, and agriculture.
The tribes are governed by the Three Affiliated Tribes of the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation, which was established in 1886. This reservation encompasses a significant area of land along the Missouri River, where the tribes engage in various economic activities, including agriculture, energy production, and tourism, to support their communities.
