Thraupidae
The family Thraupidae, commonly known as tanagers, consists of a diverse group of small to medium-sized birds primarily found in the Americas. They are known for their vibrant plumage and varied diets, which often include fruits, seeds, and insects. Tanagers inhabit a range of environments, from tropical rainforests to temperate woodlands.
There are over 240 species of tanagers, making Thraupidae one of the largest bird families. Some well-known members include the Scarlet Tanager and the Blue-gray Tanager. These birds are often social, frequently seen in flocks, and play important roles in their ecosystems as seed dispersers.
