Thomas de La Warr
Thomas de La Warr was an English nobleman and colonial governor known for his role in the early years of the Virginia Colony. He served as the colony's governor from 1610 to 1618, during a critical period of its development. His leadership helped stabilize the settlement after a time of hardship and conflict with the local Powhatan Confederacy.
De La Warr is often credited with implementing strict military discipline and promoting agricultural practices that improved the colony's chances of survival. His arrival in Jamestown marked a turning point, as he brought supplies and reinforcements that were essential for the settlers' endurance in the New World.
