Third Mithridatic War
The Third Mithridatic War (73–63 BCE) was a conflict between the Roman Republic and the Kingdom of Pontus, led by King Mithridates VI. This war was part of a series of confrontations known as the Mithridatic Wars, which aimed to expand Roman influence in Asia Minor. The Roman general Lucius Licinius Lucullus initially led the campaign, achieving significant victories against Mithridates' forces.
Eventually, the war concluded under the command of Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus (commonly known as Pompey), who decisively defeated Mithridates. The conflict ended with the annexation of Pontus into the Roman Republic, solidifying Roman control over the region and diminishing Mithridates' power.
