Thera Volcano
Thera Volcano, also known as Santorini Volcano, is located on the island of Santorini in the Aegean Sea, Greece. It is a stratovolcano that has experienced several significant eruptions, the most famous being the Minoan eruption around 1600 BCE. This eruption had a profound impact on the surrounding region and is believed to have contributed to the decline of the Minoan civilization.
The caldera formed by the eruption is now partially submerged, creating a stunning landscape with steep cliffs and a central lagoon. Today, Thera Volcano is considered an active volcano, with the last eruption occurring in 1950. It remains a popular destination for tourists due to its unique geological features and beautiful views.
