Theory of Knowledge
The Theory of Knowledge (TOK) is a core component of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. It encourages students to reflect on the nature of knowledge, exploring how we know what we claim to know. TOK examines different ways of knowing, such as perception, reason, emotion, and language, and how these influence our understanding of the world.
In TOK, students engage with real-life situations and consider the implications of knowledge in various areas, including natural sciences, human sciences, arts, and history. This critical inquiry helps develop analytical skills and fosters open-mindedness, encouraging students to question assumptions and appreciate diverse perspectives.
