The Richard III Society
The Richard III Society is an organization dedicated to promoting the study and understanding of King Richard III of England. Founded in 1924, the society aims to challenge misconceptions about Richard's life and reign, particularly those stemming from William Shakespeare's portrayal of him as a villain.
Members of the society engage in research, publish newsletters, and organize events such as lectures and reenactments. They also support archaeological projects, including the discovery of Richard's remains in Leicester in 2012, which have contributed to a more nuanced understanding of his historical significance.
