"The Perfect Storm" refers to a meteorological event that occurred in late October 1991, when a powerful nor'easter combined with Hurricane Grace to create a massive storm off the coast of New England. This unique combination of weather systems resulted in extremely high waves and severe winds, impacting fishing vessels in the area.
The most notable vessel affected was the Andrea Gail, a commercial fishing boat that was caught in the storm. Tragically, the crew of the Andrea Gail was lost at sea, and their story was later popularized in the book and film titled "The Perfect Storm."
