The Mabinogion
The Mabinogion is a collection of medieval Welsh tales, written in Middle Welsh, that dates back to the 12th and 13th centuries. It consists of 11 stories, which blend mythology, folklore, and history, showcasing the rich narrative tradition of Wales. The tales often feature legendary heroes, magical creatures, and themes of love, betrayal, and adventure.
The stories are divided into two main groups: the Four Branches of the Mabinogi and the Tales of the Mabinogion. The Four Branches focus on the exploits of characters like Pwyll, Bran, and Cuchulainn, while the other tales include stories about knights, kings, and quests, reflecting the cultural heritage of the time.
