The Iron Guard
The Iron Guard was a far-right political movement in Romania founded in the 1920s. It was known for its nationalist, anti-communist, and anti-Semitic ideologies. The group gained popularity during the interwar period and was involved in various violent acts against its opponents, including political assassinations.
The Iron Guard was also associated with the Legion of the Archangel Michael, a religious and paramilitary organization. Its leader, Corneliu Zelea Codreanu, promoted a vision of a Romania based on Orthodox Christian values. The movement's influence waned after World War II, leading to its eventual suppression by the communist regime.
