The Heineken Kidnapping
The Heineken Kidnapping refers to the abduction of Freddy Heineken, the CEO of the Dutch brewing company Heineken, in 1983. Heineken was taken from his car in Amsterdam by a group of criminals led by Cor van Hout and Klaas Bruinsma. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of 35 million Dutch guilders.
After 15 days in captivity, Heineken was released following the payment of the ransom. The case gained significant media attention and highlighted issues related to crime and security in the Netherlands. The kidnappers were eventually caught and sentenced to prison for their actions.
