Thabla
Thabla is a traditional percussion instrument from the Indian subcontinent, commonly used in classical and folk music. It consists of a pair of hand-played drums, with the smaller drum called the dayan and the larger one known as the bayan. The dayan is typically made of wood, while the bayan is often crafted from metal or clay, producing distinct sounds.
Musicians play the Thabla by striking the drum surfaces with their fingers and palms, creating intricate rhythms and patterns. It is an essential component of various music genres, including Hindustani classical music and Qawwali, and is often accompanied by other instruments like the harmonium or sitar.
