Terminal Moraines
A terminal moraine is a type of landform created by glaciers. As a glacier advances, it picks up rocks and debris from the ground. When the glacier melts, this material is deposited at its furthest point of advance, forming a ridge of accumulated sediment.
These ridges can vary in size and shape, often marking the edge of a former glacier. Terminal moraines are important for understanding past glacial activity and can be found in many regions that experienced glaciation, such as the Northern United States and Canada.
