Teodoro Obiang
Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo is the President of Equatorial Guinea, having held the position since 1979. He came to power after a military coup that overthrew his uncle, Francisco Macías Nguema, the country's first president. Obiang is known for his long tenure and has been re-elected multiple times, often amid allegations of electoral fraud.
Under Obiang's leadership, Equatorial Guinea has experienced significant economic growth, primarily due to its oil reserves. However, his government has faced criticism for human rights abuses and lack of political freedoms. Despite the wealth generated from oil, many citizens continue to live in poverty.
