Temple of Philae
The Temple of Philae is an ancient Egyptian temple complex located on Philae Island in the Aswan region. Dedicated primarily to the goddess Isis, it was built during the reign of the Ptolemaic dynasty and features stunning architecture and intricate carvings. The temple complex was constructed between the 3rd century BCE and the 1st century CE.
In the 20th century, the temple faced threats from rising waters due to the construction of the Aswan High Dam. To preserve it, the entire complex was relocated to Agilkia Island in the 1970s. Today, the Temple of Philae is a popular tourist destination and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
