Temple of Bel
The Temple of Bel was an ancient temple located in the city of Palmyra, Syria. Built in the first century AD, it was dedicated to the god Bel, a major deity in the ancient Near East. The temple was known for its impressive architecture, featuring a large courtyard and a grand entrance flanked by towering columns.
The temple served as a religious center and a symbol of the wealth and power of Palmyra during the Roman Empire. Unfortunately, it was severely damaged in 2015 during the conflict in Syria, leading to significant loss of cultural heritage.
