Temple of Athena
The Temple of Athena is an ancient Greek temple located on the Acropolis of Athens. Dedicated to the goddess Athena, the temple was constructed in the 5th century BCE and is a prime example of Doric architecture. It housed a massive statue of Athena Parthenos, made of gold and ivory, created by the sculptor Phidias.
The temple played a significant role in Athenian culture and religion, symbolizing the city's power and devotion to Athena, the goddess of wisdom and warfare. It was part of a larger complex that included other important structures, such as the Erechtheion and the Parthenon.
