Tekeze Dam
The Tekeze Dam is a significant hydroelectric dam located on the Tekeze River in Ethiopia. Completed in 2009, it stands at 188 meters tall, making it one of the tallest dams in Africa. The dam plays a crucial role in generating electricity, contributing to the country's energy supply and supporting economic development.
The reservoir created by the Tekeze Dam has a capacity of approximately 2.4 billion cubic meters. This water storage not only aids in power generation but also helps with irrigation and flood control in the surrounding areas, enhancing agricultural productivity and improving local livelihoods.
