Teachtaí Dála
Teachtaí Dála, often abbreviated as TDs, are members of the Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Oireachtas, which is the parliament of Ireland. They are elected by the public during general elections to represent specific constituencies. Each TD serves a term of five years, unless an election is called earlier.
The primary role of TDs is to debate and vote on legislation, as well as to represent the interests and concerns of their constituents. They also participate in committees and can raise issues in the Dáil, ensuring that the voices of the people are heard in the legislative process.
