Tarquinius Superbus
Tarquinius Superbus was the seventh and final king of Rome, ruling from 535 to 509 BCE. He is often remembered for his tyrannical reign and the oppressive rule he imposed on the Roman people. His rule marked the end of the Roman monarchy and led to the establishment of the Roman Republic.
His reign was characterized by ambitious building projects and military campaigns, but also by political corruption and violence. The discontent among the citizens culminated in a revolt, sparked by the tragic fate of Lucretia, a noblewoman. This uprising ultimately resulted in Tarquinius's expulsion and the founding of the Republic.
