Tarquin the Proud
Tarquin the Proud, also known as Tarquinus Superbus, was the seventh and final king of Rome. He ruled from 534 to 509 BCE and is often remembered for his tyrannical reign. His leadership was marked by arrogance and a disregard for the Roman Senate, which led to widespread discontent among the populace.
His rule ended when he was overthrown in a revolt led by Lucius Junius Brutus and others, resulting in the establishment of the Roman Republic. Tarquin's expulsion is often seen as a pivotal moment in Roman history, symbolizing the transition from monarchy to a system of elected governance.
