Tarapur Atomic Power Station
The Tarapur Atomic Power Station (TAPS) is located in Tarapur, Maharashtra, India. It was the first commercial nuclear power station in the country, commissioned in 1969. TAPS consists of two boiling water reactors, each with a capacity of 160 megawatts, and two pressurized heavy water reactors, each with a capacity of 540 megawatts.
TAPS plays a crucial role in India's energy production, contributing to the national grid. The facility is operated by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and has undergone various upgrades to enhance safety and efficiency over the years.
