Kakrapar Atomic Power Station
The Kakrapar Atomic Power Station is located in the state of Gujarat, India. It is operated by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) and consists of two operational units, each with a capacity of 220 megawatts. The station uses pressurized heavy water reactor (PHWR) technology to generate electricity.
The first unit of the power station was commissioned in 1993, followed by the second unit in 1995. In addition to these, a third unit is under construction, which will have a capacity of 700 megawatts. The facility plays a significant role in India's efforts to increase its nuclear energy production.
