Tangut Script
The Tangut Script is a writing system used by the Tangut people, who lived in the Western Xia kingdom in what is now northwestern China. Developed in the 11th century, it consists of over 6,000 characters, which represent both sounds and meanings. The script is unique and is not directly related to other writing systems, making it a fascinating subject for linguists and historians.
The Tangut Script was primarily used for religious and administrative texts, reflecting the culture and beliefs of the Tangut civilization. After the fall of the Western Xia in the 13th century, the script fell into disuse, and today, it is mostly studied through historical manuscripts and inscriptions.
