Tancredo Neves
Tancredo Neves was a Brazilian politician born on March 4, 1910, in São João del-Rei. He served as the Governor of Minas Gerais and was a prominent figure in the Brazilian Democratic Movement. Neves played a crucial role in the transition from military rule to democracy in Brazil during the 1980s.
In 1985, he was elected President of Brazil but tragically fell ill before his inauguration. His vice president, José Sarney, took office instead. Neves is remembered for his commitment to democracy and his efforts to unite the country during a challenging political period.
