Tanabata festival
The Tanabata festival, also known as the Star Festival, is celebrated in Japan on July 7th. It commemorates the meeting of two celestial lovers, Orihime and Hikoboshi, who are separated by the Milky Way. During this time, people write their wishes on colorful strips of paper called tanzaku and hang them on bamboo branches, hoping for their dreams to come true.
The festival features vibrant decorations, including colorful streamers and lanterns. Many communities hold events with traditional music, dance, and food stalls. Tanabata is a time for celebration, reflection, and the expression of hopes for the future.
