Taiwanese Indigenous Languages
Taiwanese Indigenous languages are a group of languages spoken by the indigenous peoples of Taiwan. There are around 16 recognized languages, belonging to the Austronesian language family. Each language reflects the unique culture and history of its respective indigenous group, such as the Amis, Atayal, and Paiwan.
These languages are considered endangered due to the dominance of Mandarin Chinese in education and media. Efforts are being made to revitalize and preserve these languages through education programs and cultural initiatives, aiming to maintain the linguistic heritage of Taiwan's indigenous communities.
