Taeniasis
Taeniasis is an infection caused by tapeworms, specifically the species Taenia saginata and Taenia solium. These parasites are typically acquired by consuming undercooked or raw meat from infected animals, such as cattle or pigs. Once ingested, the tapeworm attaches to the intestines and can grow several meters long, leading to various digestive issues.
Symptoms of taeniasis may include abdominal pain, nausea, and changes in appetite. In many cases, individuals may not experience any symptoms at all. Diagnosis is usually made through stool tests, and treatment typically involves medication to eliminate the tapeworm from the body.
