T. Krishnamacharya
T. Krishnamacharya (1888-1989) was an influential Indian yoga teacher, scholar, and healer. Often referred to as the "father of modern yoga," he played a crucial role in reviving and popularizing traditional yoga practices in the 20th century. His teachings emphasized the importance of adapting yoga to individual needs, combining physical postures, breath control, and meditation.
He trained many prominent students, including B.K.S. Iyengar, Pattabhi Jois, and T.K.V. Desikachar, who further spread his teachings worldwide. Krishnamacharya's approach integrated philosophy, anatomy, and spirituality, making yoga accessible to a broader audience and establishing it as a respected discipline in the West.
