Szczygieł (Goldfinch)
The Szczygieł, or Goldfinch, is a small songbird belonging to the finch family, known scientifically as Carduelis carduelis. It is easily recognized by its vibrant yellow and black plumage, along with a distinctive red face. Goldfinches are commonly found in Europe, North Africa, and parts of Asia, often inhabiting gardens, parks, and open woodlands.
These birds primarily feed on seeds, particularly those of thistles and dandelions. They are social creatures, often seen in flocks, and are known for their cheerful, melodic songs. The Goldfinch is also a popular subject in art and literature, symbolizing joy and beauty.
