Suu Kyi
Aung San Suu Kyi is a prominent political leader from Myanmar, known for her long-standing struggle for democracy and human rights in the country. Born on June 19, 1945, she became the leader of the National League for Democracy (NLD) and gained international recognition for her nonviolent resistance against military rule. In 1991, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts.
After years of house arrest, Suu Kyi's party won a significant victory in the 2015 elections, leading her to become the State Counsellor of Myanmar. However, her leadership faced criticism, particularly regarding her handling of the Rohingya crisis, which raised concerns about human rights violations during her time in office.
