Super Pit
The Super Pit, also known as the Fimiston Open Pit, is one of the largest gold mines in the world, located in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. It stretches about 3.5 kilometers long, 1.5 kilometers wide, and reaches a depth of over 600 meters. The mine has been in operation since 1989 and is a significant contributor to the local economy.
Mining operations at the Super Pit involve extracting gold-bearing rock, which is then processed to separate the gold from other materials. The mine is a popular tourist attraction, offering guided tours and lookout points for visitors to observe the vast scale of the operation.
