Sultanate of Gujarat
The Sultanate of Gujarat was a prominent Muslim state in western India that existed from the 15th to the 16th centuries. It emerged after the decline of the Delhi Sultanate and became known for its rich culture, trade, and architecture. The sultanate's capital was Ahmedabad, which flourished as a major commercial center, attracting merchants from various regions.
Under the rule of various sultans, including Sultan Muzaffar Shah I, the sultanate saw advancements in art and architecture, with notable structures like the Jama Masjid and Sidi Saiyyed Mosque. The sultanate eventually fell to the Mughal Empire in the late 16th century, marking the end of its independent rule.
