Sultan Bayezid
Sultan Bayezid I, also known as Bayezid the Thunderbolt, was the Ottoman Sultan from 1389 to 1402. He is known for expanding the Ottoman Empire significantly, particularly in the Balkans and Anatolia. His reign marked a period of military conquests and the establishment of Ottoman dominance in the region.
Bayezid's rule ended in defeat at the Battle of Ankara in 1402 against Timur, a Central Asian conqueror. This defeat led to a temporary fragmentation of the Ottoman Empire, known as the Ottoman Interregnum, as his sons fought for control. Bayezid's legacy is significant in Ottoman history, influencing future sultans and the empire's expansion.
