Sukkur Barrage
The Sukkur Barrage is a significant irrigation structure located on the Indus River in Pakistan. Completed in 1932, it serves to control water flow and distribute it to various canals, supporting agriculture in the region. The barrage is crucial for managing water resources, especially during the dry season.
Spanning approximately 1,400 meters, the Sukkur Barrage features 66 gates that regulate water levels. It plays a vital role in the economy of Sindh Province by providing irrigation to millions of acres of farmland. The structure also helps in flood control, ensuring the safety of nearby communities.
