Suhrawardi
Suhrawardi was a prominent Persian philosopher and mystic, born in 1155 in Aleppo, Syria. He is best known for founding the Ishraqi school of philosophy, which emphasized the importance of light and illumination in understanding reality. His works combined elements of Islamic thought with ancient Greek philosophy, particularly the ideas of Plato and Aristotle.
Suhrawardi's most significant contribution is his concept of "the philosophy of illumination," which posits that true knowledge comes from inner enlightenment rather than mere rational thought. His ideas influenced later thinkers, including Mulla Sadra and Ibn Arabi, and he remains a key figure in the history of Islamic philosophy.
