Sufi brotherhoods
Sufi brotherhoods, also known as tariqas, are spiritual communities within Sufism, the mystical branch of Islam. These groups focus on the inner, personal experience of God through practices such as meditation, chanting, and communal gatherings. Each brotherhood often follows a specific spiritual leader, known as a sheikh, who guides members on their spiritual journey.
Members of Sufi brotherhoods often engage in rituals and ceremonies that foster a sense of unity and devotion. These practices can include dhikr, the remembrance of God, and other forms of worship that emphasize love, compassion, and the pursuit of spiritual enlightenment.
