Sucking Lice
Sucking lice are small, wingless insects that feed on the blood of mammals, including humans. They belong to the order Phthiraptera and are specifically classified under the suborder Anoplura. These parasites attach themselves to the hair or feathers of their hosts and can cause irritation and discomfort.
There are three main types of sucking lice that affect humans: Pediculus humanus capitis (head lice), Pediculus humanus corporis (body lice), and Pthirus pubis (pubic lice). Sucking lice are typically transmitted through close contact or sharing personal items, such as combs or clothing. Effective treatments include topical insecticides and thorough cleaning of infested areas.
