Stylohyoid Muscle
The stylohyoid muscle is a slender muscle located in the neck. It originates from the styloid process of the temporal bone and inserts into the body of the hyoid bone. This muscle plays a role in elevating the hyoid bone during swallowing and speaking.
The stylohyoid muscle is innervated by the facial nerve (cranial nerve VII). It works in conjunction with other muscles, such as the digastric muscle, to facilitate movements of the hyoid bone and assist in the proper functioning of the pharynx and larynx.
