The stylohyoid is a slender muscle located in the neck. It originates from the styloid process of the temporal bone and inserts into the body of the hyoid bone. This muscle plays a role in elevating the hyoid bone during swallowing and speaking. The stylohyoid is innervated by the facial nerve (cranial nerve VII).
