Structure of Intellect
The "Structure of Intellect" (SOI) is a theoretical framework developed by psychologist Joy Paul Guilford in the 1950s. It categorizes human intelligence into three dimensions: operations, contents, and products. Operations refer to the mental processes used in thinking, such as evaluation and memory. Contents represent the types of information processed, including visual and auditory data. Products are the outcomes of these operations and contents, such as concepts and ideas.
Guilford's model emphasizes that intelligence is not a single ability but a combination of various cognitive skills. This approach has influenced educational practices, encouraging the development of diverse learning strategies to cater to different intellectual strengths.
