Stress Cardiomyopathy
Stress Cardiomyopathy, also known as Takotsubo syndrome, is a temporary heart condition often triggered by intense emotional or physical stress. It causes the heart's main pumping chamber, the left ventricle, to change shape, leading to symptoms similar to a heart attack, such as chest pain and shortness of breath.
This condition primarily affects women, particularly those post-menopause. While it can be serious, most patients recover fully within weeks to months. Diagnosis typically involves electrocardiograms (ECGs) and imaging tests, and treatment focuses on managing symptoms and addressing the underlying stressors.
