Stopera
The Stopera is a cultural complex located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It houses both the Dutch National Opera & Ballet and the City Hall, making it a significant hub for performing arts and civic administration. The building is known for its modern architecture and is situated near the Amstel River.
Completed in 1986, the Stopera was designed by architects Herman Hertzberger and J. W. E. van der Laan. The name "Stopera" is a blend of "Stadhuis" (City Hall) and "Opera." The venue hosts a variety of performances, including operas, ballets, and concerts, attracting both locals and tourists.
