He is best known for his modernist poetry, which often explored themes of beauty, love, and the nature of art. George was a key figure in the Symbolist movement and influenced many writers and artists in the early 20th century.
In addition to his poetry, George founded the literary magazine Blätter für die Kunst, which showcased the work of contemporary poets and artists. He was also known for his close-knit circle of intellectuals, known as the George-Kreis, who shared his artistic vision and ideals. George passed away on December 4, 1933, in Switzerland.
