Standing
"Standing" refers to the legal right of an individual or entity to initiate a lawsuit. It requires that the party has a sufficient connection to the matter at hand, meaning they are directly affected by the issue. This concept ensures that courts only hear cases where the parties involved have a genuine interest in the outcome.
In legal terms, standing often involves three key elements: injury in fact, causation, and redressability. Injury in fact means the party has suffered a concrete harm, causation indicates that the harm is linked to the actions of the defendant, and redressability shows that a favorable court decision can remedy the harm.
